I choose the IXUS 400. Out looking is better and the DIGIC is easy to use.

4MP is not practical and not needed, at least those I know don't use this high resolution. If you consider battary and small, why don't choose X20 which is extremely small, light, fast and using AA battery, most important it is cheap!
casio r40 have the problem of not very light.

Can anyone tell which model is X20 ... I am only a beginner and want to buy a DC which is small, fast, good photo quality and using AA batteries as woodykevin said ... no need for too much functions ...
Any suggestion ... thanks!

X20 is very handy and can be put into your pocket, very good for girl!
R40 is also good if you need higher resolution. But be careful, as I know many DC with high resolution up to 4-5MP have a very high compression ratio!!! That's there are many loss when the photo is saved! you can imagine the quality when 3MP and 5MP have similar file size!!! it just waste your card space and processing time! I'm sure 2MP have been well developed at this moment!

QV-R40 的相壓縮比例可調
對比、飽和、銳利、感光通通可調
高解像有時好有用，當你crop相時就知啦
2MP無得再crop再低啦

R40 have file size of 1.8MB for both 3MP and 4MP fine mode. (for casio website).
Is the ratio too high? I don't know. I guess 3MP would be more sharp with R40 than 4MP.

The price of QV-R40 is very competitive for 4Mega pixels DC
X20 is only 2Mega pixel and only for 3R photo
Best shot function of R40 is user friendly and
suitable for entry level customer

In fact, 2MP is already good for 4R photo. U can always use very high resolution to print, of course.
Everything is a trade-off. Now, you still can't get 4MP with appropriate compression ratio that can be put into your shirt pocket. But it is ok for u to put it over your neck.
If you don't think about printing it, forget about higer resolution and enjoy making photo VCD or DVD.
