Hi people,
I am a dc beginner, I've bought Fuji f420 last day, and my friend ask me test the ccd as following:
1) use 2 second shutter to take some photo in the dark.

After that, i've found the photo have some "white dot" (in fact there are many, about 50-60 dot), is it mean that the ccd have dead dot??? should i go back to change another one???

today i've change anther one, but i've got the same problem, it is normal???

You have to do the followings:
1)Download the pic to your computer, then compare both same pic on camera display and monitor. Camera screen does not tell the truth.

2)Those should be the CCD noise under dark situation. Digital camera are not good in recording extreme light and darkness.

3)Try to take the picture of a grey card and then a black card, using normal lighting(eg. under sunlight) and normal exposure. Repeat step 1 to see if those dots still exists.

If you take the pic in a very dark room, 420's auto ISO will set to 400 or even 800, which should increase CCD noise.
