hi all,

i'm interested in DSLR recently but i dun like the trouble to carry many lenses. I wanna find a lens covering 28-200mm. I found one:

18 - 125 mm F3.5 - F5.6 DC lens

Could anyone pls give some comment on it?
is there any other choices of this zoom range?
if you know the price, pls kindly tell me too. thx a lot!

i've not bought a DSLR yet. I'm considering D70 + this lens so hopefully the cost may be even cheaper than a top prosumer DC.

18-200 個range太長了, 質素應該不及18-125, 如果你不太care 質素,
18-200好適合你, 又有marco

thx letni! I'm using DC instead of DSLR, so i think i'm only asking for some acceptable quality in term of DSLR level. so the focal length and macro function is very good to me!!!!!!

but what i'm concerned more is the F6.3 brightness at 200mm. Is it usable? I've no experience of using DSLR but i know the usable ISO is higher than DC. As there is no IS, i'm just afraid the tele end is only usable in bright sunny day.


but the most important is the price and day of arrival, anyone knows????


one more question, will the front of the lens rotates or not?

1. 18-200 唔知幾錢, 28-300就此$2500
2. 唔知幾時出同係唔係內對焦
3. 當d70+18-200時會變成27-300, 所以應該是300mm, 最大f=6.3(可能焦距短d都係f6.3 ga, 未必一定係300mm 先係f6.3)以d70, 我諗iso400 都還可接受, (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond70/page14.asp),
當焦距係300mm時, 安全快門是1/300, 咁睇你咩影ge野係幾光啦, 日光日白就當然冇問題(都唔係要bright sunny ge, bright 都ok), 陰少少就差d, 室內應該唔夠, 但係你可以用tripod, flash ma,
不過唔係度度都比用

急買的話不如要18-125啦, 你常唔常用tele 呢? 18-125都有28-200mm, 你需要300mm 嗎? 唔需要的話, 18-125會好得多

i have the same case here, that i m concerning to upgrade to DSLR level and have been looking for a lens has a wide range of zoom (from wide end to tele end)

i read a catalog of SIGMA, 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC
it's a lens that is about 28-200mm eqiv, and it is especially desigend for DSLR!
i am just wondering its quality and its price

and i m struggling between D70 and 20D
while D70 has a very good quality but 6MP seems not very enough for long term use.
20D has very good function and lower noise level. but it is more expensive and unstable QC....can u guys give me some advice here???

and more important, how's the simga lens mentioned above work out in both camera?

i've not read it all yet, but at 18mm it really has some black corner

for the camera, as all digital product, the life is short... so i hope D70 will drop more...

thx for the advice! it's not urgent so i will wait 18-200mm... and need to see at 125mm how big the F is. comparing the physical size 18-200 is not much bigger than 18-125! so i dun mind having more tele zoom : p

唔好因為部機而揀, 諗清楚想用canon lenes 多d 定係 nikon lenses 多d,
因為一揀左再轉, 就要成個system轉, 會好哂錢. 比我, 我會揀300d or 20d or 10d, 因為我愛canon lenes 多d.
Moreover,
聽其他師兄講好似D70的image quality 不及300d(當然更不及20d). d70最低只有iso200, noise 自然多d, 慢慢諗.

我唔係好明你ge 意思:
how's the simga lens mentioned above work out in both camera?
係唔係simga lens 點用係d70同20d 度?
如果係的話, 答案是, 用左d70 的話有simga lens with nikon接口, 20d 的話有simga lens with canon接口, 應該唔可以mix一齊用.

thx warrenl! in ur pics i don't see any dark corners which are shown in some review of this lens!

may i ask something:
can this lens with APS-C size sensor take pics with shallow depth of field easily? i may use this lens to take protrait pics. Say, when a girl standing in front of a wall, can i blur the wall easily? do i need to stand miles away for making the small DOF? does anyone have this kind of sample pics? thx a lot

The max. lenth of the lens is 125mm. The depth of view is wide if you taking portrait picture with F5.6 in 125mm. You can't get the blur wall easy with a girl standing in front of it.

But you can make such effect with photoshop.

Or you can try the 50mm F1.8 or F1.4 to take such photos. It may be easily get the effect you like.
