i have some comments.
though i have not operated the cam in person, i heard from forums of canon that the operation was smooth and smart.
second, i have read the web site attached above. the images are of good quality overall, but the chromatic aberration is serious, and the noise is quite serious in ISO50. surprisingly, for all animal shots, in which adequate daylight is available, the noise levels are low.
the movie quality is good, especially the stereo audio recording ability, there are few competitors on the market can offer this AV feature. however, the file size is very large, it may be due to stereo audio recording, it costs 20mb for a 10-sec file, that is, 2mb/sec. in the past i was olympus c770 user, for a 2min37sec file of 640*480*30fps mpeg 4 format, it costed 37.9mb only, that is, 0.24mb/sec.
adapting SD card is also a good approach, it helps improving speed and cost of storage, in turn, the overall performance of the cam.

i am sorry that i have some thoughts about my cams.
currently, i am panasonic FZ20 user, and recently i had a chance to operate FZ5. my comment is that the former is really a semi-professional cam because the function, the performance, the customizable parameters are suitable for non-snapshot users. i can conclude that FZ20 is still a valuable cam, and canon IS S2 cannot outperform FZ20 completely.
FZ5 is a powerful toy cam, the IS and 12x lens unit facilitate flexible shooting, and the appearance is attractive and smart.
olympus C7xx were used to my favourable cams, they were used to my smart partner of my trips years ago. C770 is still a powerful cam, because the photo quality and movie ability can outperform zoom cams on current market, but the main obstacles for it to stay top on the market are (1) absence of IS, (2) focus assisting lamp, (3) small aperture during tele zoom (F2.8-3.7 for 38-380mm, while FUJI offers F3.1 at 380mm, PANA's FZ20 offers F2.8 at 432mm ).
from dpreview.com i heard that olympus couldnt do it well on the market and chose to downsize its company. in fact, i observed that olympus' products cannot fulfil the market demand, choice of XD card is surely a one-way path to death...... i think four to five lines are enough for handling the market: (1) card cam, (2) mini snap shot - movie cam, like the ones of sanyo, (3) zoom - movie cam with stabilization, lens IS, shifting CCD, CCD with high ISO1600-3200, digital, (4) DSLR at 350D level only.
may be i am off-tracking the topic, that is my thought when viewing the market~ : D
