Re: Sigma 18-200 VS Nikon 24-120 VR Post time: 6 月 28 日 |

I've considered the 24-120VR, it would be more popular if it is 18-120, since on DSLR, most people are complaining about the lack of wider angle lense.
Therefore, sigma is the obvious choice, u can check out their comments on the internet, Sigma 18-200 has beaten a lot of lenses including Tamron 18-200, Nikon 18-70, even here DCFever is recommending Sigma 18-200 as a all-in-one lense to go with D70.
Considering wide angle lense, the first thing I look at is the angle of view, not the 15mm or 10mm, not the mm number, since all producers are producing them with a little different angle of view even with the same focal length (mm no.). The 2nd thing is the f/no all lense with f/2.8 or less are considered as fast lense or professional lense, they speak for themselves on performance (they can shoot under very low light condition), most beginner lense are starting from f/3.5 or f/4, which means these are daylight lense, they are very difficult to shoot when the Sun is setting, night time is impossible.
I tried Nikon 50mm f/1.8, it is the most amazing lense I've use, since the light it capture is actually brighter than actual condition. U can shoot around HK, Kln, N.T. any where with it at night without flash.
It is for these reasons, I have sold my Nikon D70 kit lense & Tamron 28-300, and assembled the fllw:
1. Nikon D70 body.
2. Sigma 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye Diagonal (for landscape)
3. Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 (general, indoor, night)
4. Sigma 18-200 (ALL-IN-ONE TRAVEL, outdoor, daytime)
5. Nikon 50mm f/1.8 (fun)
6. Nikon SB-800 Flash
