When you purchase D300, they will give you free Capture NX software. However, the software was unacceptably slow. It almost need 1 minutes to open up a raw (even I have 1.5G RAM). Every changes also need about 1 minutes before you can change next. I have called up Nikon CS, they said they realise the problem and have reported to their head office. So it is not much use for me to edit raw file with Capture NX. I would prefer to use photoshop. However, the plugin raw format for photoshop can only be used with the latest version of Photoshop CS3

由Nikon Capture 4至NX我都有玩過，可能我要求低，感覺上並非如此不濟事。

不過我都係用PhotoShop CS2多，鍾意佢可同時開啟並編輯Minolta及Canon的原始檔。

I looked the demo from Nikon. It seems very smooth. Maybe your PC is too slow, i think u should upgrade your PC to Core 2 or Quar Core.

D300 really come with Capture NX free of charge, not the Nikon View. That's why some people selling Capture NX at second hand market for about HK$500 to HK$600. I am using Window XP with 1.5G RAM (2 year new notebook), VERY VERY SLOW, even saving changes for Jpeg file...too bad. If it is that' slow , I would rather sell it...

現時買D300真係送 CAPTURE NX，呢位師兄無講錯，不過講真呢個軟件係好大咬，開張相都頗慢，我換咗電腦先至無咁慢，但係依然唔多滿意。

噢！原來是用NB！

NB和DeskTop基本上是兩碼子事，特別是兩年前的規格。無論RAM速、硬碟存取速度(其實這項頗重要)、CPU時鐘頻率及顯示卡效能都有極大的不同。

capture nx open a d50 raw and d200 raw speed different is 100% slower

if you use notbook i can not think if a 10mp picture open
it is too slow


the software must be use in a faster hard disk and better display card desktop note book is not recommend to use

I have bought D300 and the CaptureNX and View came as a campaign launch gift.

I enjoy using CaptureNX and I do not experience any performance problem as you described.

Check your PC.
