D-100, 使用半年, 不要期望過高, 本人認為此相機仍有好多 bugs, 有待改進. 有相片偏色, CCD容易入塵, LCD偏光等等問題, 還有, 當使用 SB-80DX 閃光燈既時候(D-TTL mode), 經常曝光不足, 要人手增加閃光強度.

Nikon 既SLR 相機, 一般都好有水準, 相信 F5 不會令人失望.

兩部完全唔同級數旣相機係唔可以比較旣(F5係頂級銀鹽相機而D100只係DSLR旣入門機)就算CANON1Ds旣相片質素同F5都差一截啦,可怳D100.

不過我想這其實也是多數菲林機主的心聲
買 DSLR 的錢其實夠上頂級菲林機身了
不用忍受焦長轉換, 次檔機身, 次檔功能等問題,
也不用再花錢買WIDE鏡
可是數位的方便又令人難以抗拒....

...其實目前為止, D1X 係我最想買o既 D-SLR, 不過真係好貴, 而家都好似要 $3X,XXX~( 行貨 )~ !!!!!!

...其次就係 D100~ ( 不過唔知點解好多人話 S2pro 好o的~ ), 令到小弟進退兩難~ !!

...但學 sevensister 兄話齋: 焦長轉換, 次檔機身, 次檔功能等問題~
...同埋始終菲林機o既壽命應該點都長過 D-SLR, ( e.g. CCD 老化 or 像素不斷增加..........etc. 等問題 )

...而最致命o既就係 "焦距長" 問題, 如果因為 "焦距長" 問題而失去o左 "距離感", 或者同以往菲林機o既拍攝方法唔同, 小弟好唔想~
...因為小弟始終想再全面o的學好攝影, 但如果買就去買 F5 又好似好 idiot ; 同埋如果要 practice, 買菲林同哂相都窮~

...用菲林機仲要自行記錄每張相o既 info (e.g. ISO, 測光, 快門, 光圈, ev 等問題........ )
...之後先可以再改進~ !!

I am a little surprise, as semi-PRO as yourself, and owner of F4 and CP5700, you still need to seek for opinions RE D100 vs F5. I think you just want to raise this topic for web friends to kill time, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Here is my 2 cents.

Solution 1, trust you already have hand-on experience of the functionalities of the F80 and its variants. If you can stand the 3rd tier functionalities and build quality of it as a camera, and you can stand the 1.5x crop factor, AND you want to go digital. Then buy D100 as a new shiny toy to go with your re-learning of photography.

Solution 2, perfectly reasonable, as an F4 user, you could probably cannot stand the lesser F80 functionalities, so you will found D100 and S2Pro not your best friend to go with. Then I am afraid you really have to save up more $ to bite the bullet and get the D1x or the upcoming D2H plus a couple new DX super wide lenses to compensate for your lost FOV.

Solution 3, which is really my most suggested route, take your budget for the new body, spend them all on film, D & P or even one or two new nice lenses. Pick up your F4 and re-learn your photography this way. You should be able to calculate yourself how long a D100's budget can last on burning film, especially if you go over fotomax which you can dumb the unsuccessful shots back to them. The running cost in HK is low, I reckon that could last for years. And you can take the time to wait and see how fast the next generation DSLR go and take your dive later.

F4 is a more than capable camera for me. Correct me if I am wrong, I think you can print the data on the edge of the film with the F4 or with some add-on databack accessories. If not, as suggested by 老叟 hing, an F100 will do the trick definitely, so I don't think an F5 is a very sensible upgrade. Moreover, there isn't a lot your combo of F4 and CP5700 cannot do in my opinion.

So if I were you, I will try sequeeze more from your current gears, and brush up the photo-taking skills by doing more outings, instead of spending time on searching for a new machine lor.

Don't know why, as a film shooter of some SLR models back in the 80s, I can remember the shooting data in my head for those key frames I really want to remember, don't really need the new functionalities to get them recorded.

D100 and F5 are basically different animals, you trade off functionalities, quality and convenience. there is a price for everything, you can't get all, at least at the present time.
