Manual focus will not be very easy because the viewfinder of D60 is relatively small (not designed for MF).

When you do MF, there's a green dot shows up in the view finder, to tell you when it's focused or not.

The 50mm F1.8 AF is a very good lens to have if you can find a good example. (the only thing is that it'll become about 75mm on the D60)

Take your time in finding a good one as the D60 kit lens is on its own very good too.
