因為本人打升上FF機.....但係又唔想咁快用晒D錢買埋鏡....
打算用住D舊鏡先.....聽我個朋友講....如果DX18-70用係D3S....係出現黑角等問題.....我想知有幾嚴重....唔該晒CHING既幫忙~!

You would be wasting the body lor. Seriously if you are not looking into working as a photographer, D700 should suffix your requirements and you can use the amount to get a decent lens/lenses.

Most of the bro are giving you the most honest answer already.

I am a D3s & D700 user. If you are not using the D3s for working purpose, you should consider using D700 instead. Coz 10 out of 10 friend who try my D3s with the 24-70mm f/2.8, they all complain about the weight.

It is not a problem for me as I am used to that weight, but seems like the weight is a serious problem for most of the DSLR user.

About the DX lens on FX body.

There is a DX mode on the D3s body, you can use DX lens without seeing the "black circle". BUT, why do you wanna that, as you lost lots of mega pixels in that mode.

Also the FX sensor is very sensitive and extremely well made when comparing to DX sensor. If you are not using FX lens, the FX sensor is amplify all the characteristic of your lens.

That means a good lens have very good image quality. BUT a not-so-good DX lens will have a worse-than-not-so-good-image.

If you seriously wanna upgrade to D3s, I sincerely suggest you to get FX lens at the same time. Otherwise it is highly possible that you will be disappointed by the quality while you concealed all the potential of the camera by not using FX lens.

Always remember DX & FX is too difference world.

when i need to shoot something very far away, i will use DX mode plus TC2eIII. I know pixels will be lost, but if i view the pics on PC screen, it seems very ok.

Amaze8 Bro,

I know what you are talking about. But it is based on your have a pretty good lens and you wanna achieve the 1.5x DX advantage. Also when you use the TC2eIII, I believe you lost 2 stop in the aperture, right? But in return, you have a Super-tele for shooting something far far away.

MP is not a very important factor on the D3s body now, coz the FF sensor is a very high quality sensor and it is extremely sensitive. It shouldn't be any problem if you are looking on the screen, even you you are printing out small print out. But you start seeing the difference when you goes up to something like 8"x10" or 11"x14" print.

But for mchan3001 bro, if he is going to use a DX lens as a daily lens on D3s body, I really see no advantage on doing so.

Someone did a test on the internet this way and compare between:

- D3s in DX mode with 17-55 f/2.8, &
- D300s with 17-55 f/2.8

The image quality is actually better with D300s under 100% crop.

Once again, I am not saying D3s is bad, or D3s is no good at DX mode.

But for the primary lens choice, I guess a D3s user should use a FX lens in order to release the full potential and ability of the D3s.
