CCD 一定要真實像素，不要插值，用 ps 想插幾多都得。
一定要光學變焦，不要被數碼變焦誤導。

i think they are the same thing, digital zoom just being processed by the rather simple alogrithm (? spell ?) built in the hardware, so no doubt, less sophisticated.
interpolation can be done in software in more sophisticated ways, but again since its a kind of fake information, it won't stand against the real thing.
however, interpolation will useful when you really need to print big, it make up the information so as to meet the optimium requirement for the printing device.
in fact there are quite a few commercially available interpolation software or plug-in which are actually not bad if faking information is absolutely needed.

除非晒A4以上, 否則唔插好過插, 5R或以下更加係多餘.

in ps7, image size and enter the dimension you want, by default it use the bicubic interpolation (i don't know how it work, but according to the guide and manual, this is the most sophisticated method ps offering), and you better keep the aspect ratio unchanged.

for the camera built-in interpolation, unless you really want to print upto A3, otherwise 4 or 5M output will be just fine. however, i will suggest you go consult your prefered D & P shop before messing up with interpolations, I have a trusted one told me their digital print machine will automatically resize the pictures and recommend I submit the original picture, any home-interpolation will just make the result worse.

i will suggest you do interpolation only for home printing.

According to what the awarding winning Fuji Pro Lab guy told me, their digital lab will do the trick for us, so the best we should do is just submit the original picture to them, provided you don't need to tweak the colour, contrast, etc. etc. (in fact the lab will do it for you, if you trust their professional settings).

For home printing, I have learnt the trick from here,

The author mentioned we have to "res up" the image such that the dpi are optimised for the target printer.

My friend tried my suggestion, resize a small picture to the target size at 300 dpi, and he was very happy with the result from his Epson colour printer.

So should I need to print from home, I will do the resize trick, should I put it forward to Pro Lab, I will let them do it.
