There is no suprise of those reviews. Although 8080 is only one got highly recommend but its zoom is quite a weakness.

Others are just got recommend only, pros & cons are as discussion in many forums recently.

No. According to Phil of dpreivew, Olys 8080 is the best. And A2 and the rest are lesser cameras.

But according to Luminous Landscape, A2 is the best, followed by 828. Olys is the worst of the bunch.

I think we should all start to learn the yardstick the various reviewers use before we blindly follow their recommendations.

Phil is a technical man. I don't regard him as a great photography. But if one who would like use their shots straight out of the camera,a nd mostly with default settings, and does little or no post processing, then following Phil's recommendations can't be wrong.

But if one intends to use his equipment in the field much, and in deamnding tight spots often, and is prepared to spend time using different settings, shooting in RAW, and do post processing, then Reichman of Luminous Landscape makes more sense. Reichman may not be the best technical junkies out there, but he is one darn good landscape and wildlife photographers. That is for sure.

I happen to buy Reichman's agrument that the development of digital photographic equipemnt has reached a stage now that the quality difference in photos caming from various cameras in the market today are really small. And what separate the men form the boys are design, usablility, layout and features. I am also pleased to learn that he is using one of the the most objective (and expensive) equipment (the DXO) to put the lens/CCD combinations of various DCs and cameras to test. And the DXO results tells a vastly different story from what Phil had to say.

For the longest time, I value Phil's opinion much. But I think both the development of DCs and the expereience of many (I like to think I am one of them) have outgrown this somewhat limited view of Phil of dpreivew.

I will still frequent dpreivew for its great forum discussions, but will start to treat Phil's personal view not as God''s words, but one of the many reviewers out there.

dpreview provides lots of information and details on every digital camera they have reviewed, but I will not take their recommendations seriously. Go to showroom and play with the cameras is much more sensible.
