大光圈適合光源不足既情況例如室內，演唱會等等，要犧牲既係靈活性．
DO鏡未必可以晌光圈全開既情況底下，仍然可以有L鏡既表現，所以未能俾冠以L之名，但佢既光學表現都已經係一流既表現，當然換來既係不足一半既重量．要選一就要看看用途了！要頂級表現，L鏡啦！要輕巧，DO啦！

70-200L IS quality is better than 70-300 DO,
but both are not very good compare with non IS 70-200L.

About the IS, 70-300DO is better than 70-200IS.
Frankly speaking, if u want IS, which means u need more stable environment, i prefer to buy 70-200IS,
since using 1.4x, and 280mm (almost 300) still have f/4 IS, which is better than f/5.6IS

I've bought them both. L lens for my EOS1V, DO lens for my 300D (Jap. version). To my opinion, both of them deserve good assessment. DO lens technology MIGHT BE the new standards for Canon's zoom lens in the near future.

for DO lens, is it 反射鏡? i heard 反射鏡 is not good...
and, if DO lens can be L lens performance, why not red ring? why "green" ring?

is it for 70-200, the image is better for without IS?

i have only 17-40, if i buy next one, should i buy 24-70 or 70-200/70-300?

DO lens is not 反射鏡
u can see the samples,
the blur background does not have "circle"

70-200 without IS image quality is better.
But long focal length having IS is better for more stable.

If you had 17-40, buy 70-200 / 70-300 first. Since 40-70 range (equiv 64-112 in DSLR) is portrait range, if you want, buy a 50 f/1.4 is ok.

You can buy Canon lens III. It includes many Canon lens technologies. You can find out the meanings of "L" and "DO". It is two different stories.

i have the problem as you at the beginning
and then i decided to go for the 28-70 f2.8 also (but still saving money now)
what camera are you using (i'm using 20d and many people found focusing problem about "white lens")
so after you brought this lens, do you found any focusing problem?
how's the quality?
