How do you rank the two models and which one is better in terms of function, picture quality, problems (e.g. back focus, system clash and hang, setting,e tc.) ?

Just to make things clear first. I don't own either, but having been reading much and viewing many samples from these two cameras.

The fact of the matter is both are excellent choices. And you are going to get two answers to your question.

Given Canon is a more popular brand, majority of the recommedations you get will be 20D.

A few (me included) will say go for the D7D if you value good layout, AS and true-to- life (some may call unexciting) colours.

Actually, the answer really rests with you. What types of shots you will likely be doing most.

If sports, large prints, and wide choices of professional lens are your priorities, go for the 20D.

If available life photography, getting anti-shake to all lens you own or will be purchasing is important to you, then D7D.

Best of luck with your choice. You can't go wrong with either.

論畫質...兩者已經相當接近 20D 還是比較滑一點...但相對來說 D7D 細節會保留得更多

操控方面....Minolta 最簡單直接方便...大家都認同吧

Both are very very good cameras, if you are not picking up any entry level DSLR like D70 and 300D. If you have Canon lenses, then 20D is your choice. If you do not have any then you have to think

1. Do you want IS/VR function? D7D has it built in.
2. Do you want the colour to be closer to film? then D7D is your choice
3. Do you use your camera to shoot continuously for sport or wild life? then 20D is the one
4. Do you want to shoot continously for shooting over 900 frames? then 20D is better
5. Do you want to have better control without the hassel of going back to menu every time? then D7D is the one

D7D can also use AA batteries when you attached the vertical grip VC-7D to the camera body !

D7D is a photographer's camera and 20D is a report's camera.

The D7D's handgrip takes six AA batteries or two lithium batteries. AA battery is useful when the temprature is very low or in case you are runnig out of power.
D7D is metallic while 20D is plastic
