I want to buy a D-SLR, Pentax *istDs or Nikon D70, but someone said that most of the Pentax lens is expensive and not common than Nikon, can anyone give me some comment about the lens of pentax and nikon??
and which lens is the best for both camera when I go to buy with the camera or just buy with the kit lens?

I had brought Pentax camera 8 years ago so I brought Pentax *ist DS. However if I could choose again 8 years ago, I will buy Canon instead of Pentax. Canon has a big 2nd Market and more common in Hong Kong. If you encounter any problem, you will ask for help easily. Besides, you can also found more people to share their experience.

I must say the Pentax *ist DS is very good and cheaper. It has enough fuction for beginner.

but D70 doesn't support manual AIS lenses!!
pentax *ist-DS supports ALL!!

I also want to buy Pentax *ist DS, but my friends always said that Pentax is not so common in HK (like bbmimiling said), so i am now still under consideration between Pentax or Canon. Anyone can post some sample photo of Pentax *istDS for me to make conclusion??

Pentax is not pop in world. You can see some new Tamron and Sigma have no Pentax mount lens.

8/12/2004 係 金寶公司 at 10/F of Times Square 用現金價$6,680 買kit set (credit card cost $7,050), 送168M SD card, 另外用現金價 $1,650 買signma AF 28-200mm F3.5, so far 我覺得以呢個價錢黎講都幾值.

順帶一提, 今朝早先係嘉蘭中心換左pentax 腳架同 pentax 背包袋, 唔使任何coupou, 凈係要invoice + warranty cards (both for body & kit lens)

i was in this situation b4. finally i chose *ist DS. u may read my user review of *ist DS in dcfever.com

i'm now very happy with Pentax lenses. 2 days ago i just bought a very new 2nd hand SMC M200/4 at ard $400. it's full glasses, metal body, and very good optical performance (i think it costs u more than $5k for the modern lens with the same optical performance, is it?) With D70 you can't get such an old lens like it. The main tradeoff is the MF, but i, as a newbie, have no problem with the very big viewfinder.

Nikon and Canon has many nice lenses, but they r too expensive to me. so i even i bought D70, i probably would buy 3rd party lenses.

irving, which new sigma/tamron lenses have no pentax version? not challenging u, sorry that i really dunno and i really wanna know. if u know, pls tell me. thx in advance! : )

anyway anyone has their own need. so maybe b4 choosing D70 or *istDS, just think clearly what u need 1st.

就以 tamron Di 鏡, 好多都無 Pentax mount. 聽講新個支 11-18 都唔會出~ 主要會出 F mount 同 EF mount.

for the 11-18, i dunno the detail... but the 18-200 (many ppl including me looking forward to it), and the released one: 28-300 Di also have pentax K mount.

I always take 風景 photo, so which one is better for this (D70 and *istDS)?

I also have one more question, what is the different between SLR lens and DSLR lens, both of them also can use on DSLR, right??
