"請問有無flash adaptor令7D用回普通閃燈(腳)？ " ~~你可買 Minolta 原廠嘅 flash adaptor ，約$280，而雜廠嘅應該唔便一佰便買到，不過個樣有Ｄ怪雞! 仲有如果你係用非 Minolta 腳嘅閃燈，咁就唔 support ADI flash ，咁就浪費咗呢個咁重要嘅功能喇! 如果想買支平Ｄ嘅外閃，可考慮 Sigma 嘅 500DG Super ，佢係目前唯一support ADI flash 嘅雜廠外閃呀!

I would like to purchase D7D at the end of this month. Can you share:
1) what and where is the latest cheapest price at the market?
2) for taking human being (people) photo, which lens should I buy?
3) if I want to buy a 10X lens, which model should I buy? Or should I wait the new KM lens series to release?
4) Should I buy scandisk II or III for D7D?

Thanks very very much for your info. I had bought the Minolta 100-300 this Tuesday evening at Wing Shing ($3380). I was so happy to try and test my len now.

For flash, thanks to share your experience. I learnt more from your advice. I would try more for these two modes (fill and rear sync) in order to see the difference.

For “Auto+On” mode, I asked this question because when I read the manual of 5600HS flash. In page 10, the diagram showed that the “AUTO” was located at left-hand side of “ON” in the display of 5600hs flash. In page 16, it also mentioned that “AUTO+ON” or “ON” could be selected in “P mode”. But I tried many times in P mode but I could not select this “AUTO+ON” mode so that I asked that question in ”交流站-第2區”. Does it mean that our KM-D7D does not support this “AUTO+ON” mode? Or I used that wrong steps? 希望 Winkellun兄& 前輩們請指教指教! 謝謝！

I was also a new member for KM-D7D for around three weeks. I think that the package plans from DC fever would be relatively cheaper if you haven’t any lens or card. I quoted the detail for the plan in “KM Dynax7D 交流站-第2區”. You may check there and you may also check for more shops on the latest price.

For lens, I took the advice from 前輩們 in “KM Dynax7D 交流站-第1區 &第2區”, finally I purchased the following lens:

Minolta 17-35 F2.8-4 (D) (equ. to 25.5 to 52.5) - for wide
Minolta 28-75 F2.8 (D) (equ. to 42 to 112.5) - for standard
Minolta 100-300 F4.5-5.6 APO (D) (equ. to 150 to 450 (around 12.8x optical)) - for tele

Thus it had covered the range from 25.5 to 450mm. Actually, you may check with the advice from 前輩們 from “KM Dynax7D 交流站-第1區 &第2區”, they had many advices for the choice of lens for KM-D7D. Hope this info helps.

2) SB-800
但我冇Nikon AF body，亦冇minolta燈，所以唸下張兩樣野放埋一齊...

SB800 有Built-in Light sensor, 所以可以做Slave, 但我同朋友用SB800 + Canon 580玩過, 發覺支 SB800 次次 Full Power 出, 搞來搞去都唔掂. 不過我冇睇說明書.....

若 5600 + SB800, 相信差不多......

Here is my advice for your questions.

Q1. I am not sure about the pricing now, but you may try dcfever, WingShing or even Broadway. Shop around is still a must and always stick with big shop.

Q2. For "people" photo, it depends on your application. For the face? 85mm is great but if you like to take whole body, 35-50mm is nice.

Q3. Best 10X lens? I won't suggest that unless it is a must. I know it is very very convienent. However, the quality for 10X may hardly fulfill your requirement on a 7D.

Yes, you may feel great in initial use but I garrantee that you will want to upgrade shortly, therefore why not buy a better range in the first place?

As hopeful mentioned, 17-35 & 28-75 are just unbelievably good value with excellent quality.

Tell us your budget and your target range, then we may work something out for you.

Q4. I would strongly suggest Ultra II. The difference with Ultra II and III is basically on their environment resistance. Ultra III is very very strong which I believe it will last forever! However Ultra II is just equally good. Performance is very much the same. I read some test on speed before, there isn't much difference at all.

preference:
1) body + CF card
2) lens for "people" photo, something like 35-50mm. But my main purpose is taking "background is blurred while the people is clear"
3) external flash light for taking photo inhouse
4) lens for wide ranges --> like what I asked before 10X
5) vertical grip
....

I think, just I think... the price as follows,

Body -> 7D is around 10-11k.
CF -> Ultra II 1G is around 600-700 or Ultra II 2G is around 1300.
Lens -> Minolta 28-75 F2.8 around $3200
Flash -> Minolta 3600 / Sigma
Vertical Grip -> around $1000

Please tell me how serious you are on investing money on 7D / DSLR.

Sigma AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC $2680, OR

I know the above combination may not fitting everyone's needs but I hope that I can give you an idea.

I must stress that 7D is not a cheap body!!! therefore I suggest you should buy decent lens with it. You really should avoid the " Very casual user" recommendation. If you do, go for Nikon D70s for better value or you may regret for the 10X lens and upgrade sooner or later -> waste money.

For "Casual user", I think it is quite good. It is cheaper because Tamron 17-35 F2.8-4 is cheaper than Minolta one. The sigma 70-300 has some very good feedback in this class. Therefore, they are all good buy. Sigma DG super is great in price with great functions, too.

For the "semi-serious", it is going to be same as "Mr hopeful", everything from Minolta, great coverage, yet excellent quality from Minolta lens!

As I am a long term "camera equipment user", My advice is - you must asked yourself, how much do you want to spend? No matter Minolta, Nikon or Canon. It is a one way ticket. You can lost money if you made a mistake.

If you decided to go 7D, the path is like this,
Step 1.
7D body only - 10k
Ultra II 2G - 1.3k
28-75 F2.8 - 2.8k
============
Total: $14100

Step 2.
17-35 F2.8-4 - $3200

Flash, VC and long telezoom should leave them much later. Unless you do a lot indoor photography or "hit bird", otherwise you got the most coverage of 17-75mm => 25.5-112.5mm with F2.8!!! You can definitely have sharp face with blur background by the 28-75 F2.8 lens, yet with 17-35 wide enough for traveling.

Here is an example by my Tokina 28-70 F2.8 on my 7D. It is not a "people" shot but can show you here blur the background can be.
