Since I found that there is a little bit dark when I use the 580EX with my 350D, i need to tune up the flash.

Did any one have the same problem? THX!

This is a very common problem, just add +1/EV!!

not quite, system too complicated, manual says it's easy to use, in fact it's just the other way!! You have to consider a lot, eg: back ground, backlit, side light ,subject profile covering area % etc,etc and etc, and select particular mode or adjustment before you get perfect shot!!

I have the same problem when comparing external flash and internal flash. I am using 350D. Both of the flashs should be using E-TTL II. The external flash is always under 1/3 step than the internal flash. I don't know why.

No surpise, when using flash in day light, back light, high contrast of color, object is too small or not at centre…etc

The TTL always is not reliable, should use experience to compensate + / - EV, so some people prefer to use manual mode in flash.
