For small DC, the old minolta G600 is the best one for night shoot, its noise reduction & manual control is excellent.... BUT day time picture very sharp in centre, very soft at edges, night shoot is really really fantastic! Fortress on sale around 2k, it can use both MS pro & SD. DC I have tried for night shot: BEST G600 (no hot spots!) > sony P92 > sony P150 > minolta 7Hi > nikon S1 POOR
of course, u cannot compare small DC with DSLR
