which one is better?

Hard to say which one is better, and no review for 17-70 yet.

For quality, I will choose 18-50mm f2.8.

It is EX series (better series of sigma lens) and got constant f/2.8 maximum aperture.

And no worst comment at all.

I already have a 18-50 F2.8 which is very good.

If I don't have it , I'll choose 17-70mm because the 1:2.3 macro at 20mm (8 inches) distance is very attractive to me.

If you requirement is not too high, use it as a portrait lens too.

All you need in the future is a Sigma 100-300 F4 EX len and a 1.4X teleconverter for wild life shooting.
