Can anyone tell me the movie mode capability of S45. According to the latest issue of PC Market I bought today (issue 495 page 113), it is able to shot at 640x480 at 15fps for 3 minutes. Is this true???

yes, it is true, but the pre-requisite is you have to buy a compact flash card that is fast enough in WRITE operation. many "highspeed" compact flash card nowadays in the market marked 25x is only read 25x, write is less than 10x. One example I have tested is DigiFILM, which is only barely enough for write speed.

It is not 640 x 480 just 320 x 240 ja ma.
And is it cannot change exposure mode in Manaul mode?

you can buy transcend or kingston (white card) for a secured speed at a very slightly higher price (for 256MB only about $50 more).

PQI is not recommended since somebody complains about the compatibilty with certain DC like S602z (you can see some PQI owner selling their card very soon after they bought it in the 2nd hand market), dunno if on S45 has problem or not.

Sandisk is DEFINITELY NOT recommended, the speed of sandisk ultra (much expensive) is still slower than DigiFILM, not to talk about sandisk ordinary model.

yes, sorry for the mistake on 640x480 mode. all the 3 new canon models G3, S45, and V3 can only shoot movie at 320x240, 15fps for max. of 3 minutes. If you really think 640x480 movie, you might have to look at Sanyo MZ2 / MZ3.

So, "PC-Market" is wrong!! How could the editor make such a mistake!!

It would be the ultimate DC if the S45 could do 640x480 movie as well. Anyway, I think picture quality is the most important for a DC and S45 is much better than the MZ3 in this respect. Right?

yes, daylight photo, S45 is much better than MZ2/MZ3 law, 4MP <=> 2MP ar......
but at night, like street scene, S45/V3 if not enabled NR, just similar quality as MZ2/MZ3. S45/V3 enabled NR, the photo sometimes is overly smoothed.
