I found that there was some firmware for coolpix 5000 that can be downloaded from Nikon web. I think it can be done by ourself. But there was not new firmware for coolpix 5700 only.

I think it's free within warranty period.
But with no improvement in performance, I see no reason to upgrade it. May be it's only new firmware for new circuit board layout.

As I know, the new firmware version for CP5700 is 1.7 and the new version only facilitates software developer in designing software for CP5700. End-user did not benefit from it.
