no more people can tell u. i just used EOS 400D but i haven't used D80.
But i can tell u, both of them are good cam. buy which one u like is ok.

I suggest you look at some pictures by these camera before making a decision. They have different characteristics in terms of colour and sharpness. Pick the one you like.

D80 is a higher grade model than 400D, D80 kit (18-135) $8.3k, body $6.3k all with gifts.

to choose CANON or NIKON:

If u want cheap lens of good quality, buy NIKON D80, don't buy CANON if u don't have $ to buy L lens.

If u want to take "smooth skin photo" of girls, especially in high light area, buy CANON 400D (as NIKON DSLR including D2Xs always `burn' the high light area to dead white)

if u want "razor sharp with high contrast" of landscape, buy NIKON D80

if u want to buy cheap flash lights, buy NIKON

if u want to buy cheap accessories, e.g. battery, battery grip etc., buy NIKON

if u don't want much "back focus issue", buy NIKON

If I have $9000 now , I will buy D80 kit

if I only have $5000 now, I will buy 400D kit

up to your major purose on Girl or Landscape ? We cannot say canon lens is more expensive than Nikon. you will find Tele lens on Nikon is more expensive than Canon. The wide angle lens on Canon is more expensive than Nikon. The product line for digital cam "EFS" have a very good quality. Maybe u say Nikon's Len is cheaper than Canon, but the speed on focus and the noise on focus is same?

邊有分架, 咩野機都可以影人同景架啦, 如果話CAN0N影人, NIKON影景, 咁SORRY同奔DUCK用來影D乜? 奶假又要景D乜?
