Since some weeks there were a lot of rumours about a new PowerShot digital camera with a 5.0 megapixel resolution, the rumour seems to be true cause we have got some specifications found that are published on the world wide web since today. The unofficial specification are an Image Resolution of 5.0 million effective Megapixels and a 3x optical zoom lens combined with a 4x digital zoom.


The data will be stored on a regular CompactFlash Type I of Type 2 card. The new PowerShot S50 has a weight of 9.18 ounces without battery and memory card and the dimensions of 4.4"W x 2.3"H x 1.7"D.

The camera has a USB and audio/video interface and a build-in flash with selectable flash setting. Furthermore additional features are 12 shooting modes including aperture or shutter speed priority, night scene and movie, 9-point auto focus for crisp images regardless of where the subject appears in the image frame and 12 shooting modes from fully automatic to fully manual. On the back of the camera is a 1.8-inch color LCD screen. System Requirements are Windows 98, 2000, ME or XP and Mac OS 9.0 to 9.2 or OS X (10.1/10.2)
