Hi hey,

As I have a tight budget (around $2000-2500), should I choose D40X or D70s?

D40X : newer generation, higher M pixel,

D70S: two dail for setting, 5 point focus system.

Market is about the same.....which one should I choose!

Please help me, all professional!

I suggest you buy D40x or even D60. D70 is generation 1 technology in image processing. D40/D40x is more advance in image processing than D50/D70.

Ask yourself what you need in terms of functionality. If you have a tight budget, I supposed you won't have extra budget for extra lens. So what you need to include will be which lens you need rather than just focusing on the body itself.

True that D70s is old technology but as a matter of fact, I'm still relying it for my shots. I would not prefer D40x myself, because I have LB2 and LB3, which are not AFs lenses.

Don't be fooled by resolution, 6MB pixel on D70s can give you 3000x2008 resolution, which is more than enough to display on screen, or develop A0 poster size photos.

You mentioned dual dial, this might be your consideration as well. However, be prepared not to have the latest technology, highest ISO, ...etc. But I can reassure that you can still find the pictures composure very good. See my photos for D70s outcome. One last point, photography is all about the one behind the camera, there's no point getting the latest technology. Not to mention many people just buy them and dunno how to make good use of it.
