Also depends on the lens used, lens with USM is definfely faster.

i think it depends very much on the body used assuming that the same lens attached. For example, if you use the combo say 300D + 50 1.4 and 1D + 50 1.4, i am sure 1D focuses much faster that 300D as long as the same lens used.
