I am using Sony Alpha 100 with Minolta 3600HS Program Flash. Most of the time when I take photos indoor or at night time with a subject and using the flash and P Mode, the surrounding environment will have the problem of udner exposure even though I use the AEL. I have to increase the exposure for 0.7 to 1 to get a better result. Is there any problem with my camera or what setting do I need to do to cure this problem?

check the meter, raise ISO as needed to capture more background light.
Never think of a technical failure at the beginning, most of the problems are caused by user.
