what are 手動曝光, 光圈先決 and 快門先決?
does the canon a40 support those functions?

Manual Exposure - you set the aperture and shutt speed, the camera doesn't anything for you.

Aperture Priority - you set the aperture, the camera select a shutter speed to make a correct exposure

Shutter Priority - you set the shutter speed, the camera select a aperture to make a correct exposure

Also,
Program/Auto Mode - camera chooses a combination of shutter speed and aperture to achieve correct exposure.

Not familiar with the PowerShot A40, from the product website it seems to have Program, Auto, and manual only.

Okay, one more last time, the first paragraphy again -

in manual exposure, the user has to determine and set both the shutter and aperture on his/her own, the camera won't choose for you.

usually in Manual Mode, there is a exposure scale one can refer to, like a bar with + and - symbols on opposite side.
