Intend to purchase a D-SLR camera Post time: 8 月 13 日 |
|
|
I started my photography since March 2002 by a Canon A40. I have used FujiS602Z for a year (taking around 9,500 photos so far) and prepare to upgrade the DC to D-SLR.
Before March 2002, I don't have any photography experience. My budget is below HK$20,000 for the whole set, including lens, flash, micro drive etc.
On the experience side, is this the appropriate time to upgrade?
One the budget side, the amount is good enough?
Please give me some advice.

big question, what effective focal length of lens you are after?
i think for the body, you can't go far wrong with Canon 10D, Nikon D100 or Fuji S2Pro. There seems some well known pros and cons you can readily found in the internet or just this web site.
I think the key question you should ask is what lens to buy which depends on the focal length you are targeting and the budget left lor.
if i were you, i think i will buy a Canon 10D with the 17-40 F4L then the memory storage and the rest of the money on a flash lor.
or S2pro with Nikon's new DX wide zoom if save the flash for a while if its already over the 20K budget.
Good ar, got the guts and budget to go DSLR.

High value of money!!

>> 如果 602 不能滿足你便需要 upgrade 了
One the budget side, the amount is good enough?
>> 20K 不太夠...通常身邊朋友的配搭是 一機, 一閃, 3 鏡
(超廣角至廣角, 標準鏡, 標準至中長焦)
還沒有計 PL, CF 等一大堆...
不過如果選副廠鏡頭另當別論 :)
另外有消息指 CANON 快將有比 10D 更低價的6MP入門 DSLR 出售
不急的話可以等一等

Hi there,
I have been a DSLR user since the early days on the Nikon D1x. I then switched to Canon when the EOS-1D was introduced, and now I shoot with a 1Ds. I have played with the D60 and 10D and both are fine cameras. The forum here does not seem to have many DSLR users, but I can for sure tell you that going from the Fuji to say a Canon 10D will be a huge step up for you both in terms of quality and flexibility. DSLR may not be 'better' in every sense of the word. For portability, the fuji obviously wins hands-down. But for flexibility both in terms of hardware and post processing, DSLR will definitely be the way to go.
At this point you should decide on whether you want to go with Canon or Nikon. I have long been a Nikon user (14 yrs) before I made the switch. Both systems have its pros and cons, you have to decide for yourself. I personally think Canon will be the way to go with digital. But you MUST get the RAW processing software CaptureONE DSLR from PhaseONE. canon's software sucks.
Having said that, I believe canon will very soon announce a sub-USD1k DSLR within the next few weeks, That may be the most logical step for you.

Thanks to all of you guys.
A few days ago, I was thinking of S2Pro or you can say Nikon Lens.
Personally, I like the pictures in details or another word solid, concrete, sharp image.
I feel that Canon is a little bit "soft". For examply, when you like at the details, especially for portraits, some of the wrinkles are gone.
Gals like it!! Particularly for the gals in late 30's.
I like portraits as well as landscapes.
If Canon will announce a USD1K D-SLR, the story will be different as I am a family man, no more fancy toys!!
