S50 Vs G5, A80 Vs G3, 300D Vs G5................................

I think that you got a wrong concept.
The technique and selling point are totally different.

"A" series -- for beginner who want to have more functions. The lens and electronic parts are poor than "G" series.

"G" series -- for semi-professional use. The lens, electronic parts and body is much better.

"S" series -- It is similar to "G" series. But the lens is still poor than "G" series.

Also, you cannot use G5 to compare with 300D, they have different markets. For G5, you can pay about $5000 to enjoy the DC. But for 300D, after you pay $7XXX to buy the body, maybe, you pay $600 to buy EF 50mm f/1.8, or $2400 for EF 50mm f/1.4 USM. But only one len is not enough, so, you'll pay $1700 to buy 28-105 f/3.5-4.6 USM. And after one month, you think that you need a large zoom lens, OH! EF70-200mm f/2.8L is too expensive.

Therefore, I think that canon is nothing wrong on marketing. The bad point is " Releasing a new product too fast ".

The fact is the consumer will upset / regret every time they release new models couple of weeks later.

Facing the endless racing from Sony, Nikon, and other 2nd level brands names, I guest Canon can't hold her new models to the markets within a long time.

This phenomenon is common in buying computer (and other high-tech products), that is, you will find a cheaper but more powerful model after buying a computer. As such, I only buy the computer/DC/others only when you need to use it and seldom purchase the newest model (as the price is usually unreasonably high)......

這方面我都明, 但單講市場策略, Canon 應該沒有錯, 所有系列的定位也明確,
唉! high-tech product 就是這樣, 很快有新產品, 如 intel CPU 一樣, 很快有新野出, 但從經濟角度上, 這沒有錯, 只是消費者過不了自己, 但對剛買DC的人來說, 這可能是件好事, 所以, 地球仍在轉, 沒有新產品又怎有新鮮感呢. 話須如此, 但攝友們依然追求新產品, 這還能養活了一批做二手生意的人啊.

無辦法啦, 有辣有唔辣...
試問一年前有無可能用$2000多買部300萬像數碼相機?? 而家500萬像$4000都有交易, 而$7000有部全新數碼單鏡係年頭簡直係痴人說夢, 依家canon先後用a70, s50 同 v300d實現呢d夢想, 對舊客戶當然唔著數 , 但對新手來說又絕無問題, 多平靚正唔好咩???

好簡單, 睇300D 個spec, 就知道佢仲簡單過10D(廢話), 一切技術早已有, 現在只是減磅拎出黎賣, 我估成本很少...

相反若繼續研究G6,G7, prosumer 機支持者的要求又高, 制作成本會高;
又要轉LCD, EVF,ring zoom,len quality, no noise, 光圈, 反應快, 不如隨手出兩支新鏡, 出多架減磅dslr(300D)俾大家自己玩好過, 讓大家忘記prosumer, 忘記埋人地D prosumer.... Canon 都記毒...... 隊冧個市....!但又幾醒目.

Canon的優勢在於全部主要元件(CMOS,鏡頭 etc)都唔使其他廠家供應,全部自己搞掂,所以佢出機時間表唔使等其他廠,鍾意幾時出就幾時出。缺點在於全部開發成本自己一力承擔好重皮,所以咩要狂搵錢去支持佢自己囉。佢咁做有好有唔好啦,好就好在霸多d市場佔有率,但係自己打自己果下野都對佢個形象有影響喎,市場將來點發展冇人可以完全掌握,大家都係賭一舖,好似電腦display card咁,以前就話Tseng Lab,跟住到S3,跟住到3dfx,nVidia,ATI....風水輪流轉,跟住到邊個,邊個估到?

Canon呢次落價策略可能係想打激Sony DSC-F828、Minolta A1等高級全能機呢個級別o既機種！

我認為玩家要考慮的不只是這些，表面上300D真係極便宜，但用開SLR的人都知，又要買鏡頭又閃燈又乜又物，計番埋都係萬萬聲，相反828，A1這類高級消費機最後會較便宜。

如果買300D，就唔會只滿足一支標準鏡，如果唔係洗乜買SLR?
