humm.... I think that the AF 24-85mm F2.8-4D (IF) is a better lens... but is only without AF-S and ED... I personally like AF-S and ED a lot...

but again... 24-85mm F2.8-4 with 72mm Filter attachment size... but AF-S 24-85mm F3.5-4.5 ED with 67mm Filter attachment size... so the 24-85mm F2.8-4 is a little bit better...

but right now I'm using AF-S VR 24-120mm F3.5-5.6 ED... I like it a lot... is around $3900
