Why do u need 景深夠淺 in marco photography? I don't think!

In opposite, deeper depth of field is needed in marco photography!

For jewel photography, quality of image is very important, generally consumer DCs may not be good in these area but if quality requirement is not serious as "commerical application", some DCs may be OK.

If ur budget about $3000, Nikon CP4500 is a good choice for u.

Personally, I don't think Macro is that necessary.
What important are lighting and backgroumd. I have problem taking MP3 product shot.

Macro is needed becoz the Depth of field on DC too deep, which is impossible to make your background out of focus in order to higlight part of the product ! that's why macro is needed as it's the only way to create blurry background picture on DC

to DC, it's easy to take clear pic on both background and also the product. however, if you wanna highlight part of the product, pls use MACRO function

another point to use macro is, it makes product image larger in size in picture, which is better to print in out as catalog or high quality pic.

Think about it, when you taking a shot on a ring, or pair of eye ring which is relative small in size, you've to put your DC closely with the object in order to acquire reasonable size of image. You must have to enable MACRO in order to get a clear picture.

影珠寶要有淺景深及Macro 要強, 切勿用閃燈, 打燈都不好, 最好用一個奶白色罩, 在外面打燈才會有好效果, 小弟有兩幅劣作, 沒有用奶白色罩, 只用了白色 LED 燈作補光, 再用 Photoshop 執. 真見笑了.

其實影珠寶最好用菲林, 靚很多及有質感.

Hello mr. ladios_sopp

In portrait photography, blurry background is difficult when using a small ccd dc but in macro photograpy, there may not have enough sharpness with a very small object, i.e. a pearl ear ring, if u don't step down ur lens to small aperture even with a small ccd dc!

Actually, as the object and lens become closer & closer, as magnification is increased, depth of field will become very shallow. If u don't believe that pls try it yourself.

HWC兄: give me five man! finally met someone know the way to take product picture :D

the diamond in picture 2 looks not clear enough, probably it's owing to the limitation on F717 macro quality. Picture 1 looks good

DSLR / SLR + macro len will make much clear and texture picture. And it's important to use macro len with even life-size 1:1 too

Also, my freind is a product photographer. He always takes silver product photos. He also use this method to take, but using film as DC is not good for it.
