Dear All,

I bought my D70 kit in early April. I experienced back focus problem with some of my photos especially when taken indoor flash photo with the kit lens. I don't have the same problem with others AFD lens.

This topic has a lot of noise in the net such as the D70 forum at the www.dpreview.com Some of them said that Nikon service centre carried out the adjustment very quickly.

I did call Nikon service centre in Hong Kong. It seems that this is the first time they heard of this BF issue. They asked me to bring the D70 kit in for checking. I will wait until Nikon HK knows how to remedy it before sending my camera and lens for adjustment.

Does anyone has the back focus issue????

If yes, call Nikon Hong Kong please to wake them up!!!

I dun think Nikon dun know the issue, cos I have met the same problem with u , w/ my 24-85mm f/2.8-4D lens.

I took my D70 with this lens to Nikon office early April, after they test, the staff only realise it is a mis-focus problem and told to left it for repair, hopefully 4 weeks ( I take my lens for cleaning also 4 weeks, but very satisfy their service). After I return from the shop I bought, and no such problem with new one. Therefore, Nikon dun think it is a big deal.

Leaving it for fixing (but no replacement), or u try another lenses like 24-120 VR, maybe u may get better effect.

所有的相機也有對焦誤差的問題, 只是程度的問題而已!!!
根據 DC Preview 的D70測試, 也確認有微弱的 back focus 的問題, 詳見 http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond70/page19.asp

又, 看看對家的同級相機, 根據對用的使用者回報, 不同鏡頭使用在同中一部相機時, back focus的程序也不同, 甚至是有的沒問題, 有的卻很嚴重, 往往調整後就得一支有問題o既鏡, 無問題o既鏡係相機調整後變有問題

Hi Irving,

Most of my BF problems with the kit len were taking half length portrait indoor flash (using the D70 built-in flash) photo of two to four persons i.e. the aperture was fully opened and narrow DOP.

I used programme mode, AF-S, single area mode with auto focus sensor locked at centre. Normally I pointed at the person's face that I wanted focus and half press the shuter to lock the focus before taking the photo.

Now I will use the auto mode and the cloest subject focus so that the slight BF will hit the target that I wanted.

I agreed with the point that Ladios made. I will wait until Nikon HK has a solution before get it fixed.
