Regarding your question, the comment is Yes & No.
Most of the DC models are using Li-on battery. The advantage of Li-on battery is - it can be made in many different shape and size but provide high capacity of energy at the same time. Disadvantage is - unlike Ni-mh battery, Li-on battery has some potential to explode. Therefore, EVERY Li-on battery is supposed to manufacture with short circuit protetion. HOWEVER, in order to lower cost, some manufactures won't put that function in. Soooo, always trust brand name 3rd party battery maker.
