D70:
- good kit lens (18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G DX IF-ED)
- stable quality from factory
- price is cheaper
= ISO 200 and up, more noise

20D:
- more megapixel, lower ISO, lower noise
- more expensive
= heard problems directly out from factory
= no spot metering

i aware of image quality very much, espeically on color and noise level.
So, does the 2 addition megapixel and minimum ISO speed really matter? For a wide range of lens, which would be better....in terms of quality and price. Please help me choose~

it's my first time consider in DSLR world, i wish what i paid will worth the money

PS: um....seems it's involve two brand, and this forum tends to have fighting between fans of different brands, I wish it won't happen in this post. Personal feelings are fine, just not to hurt the others. Let make this civilized and hopefully, be scientific =)

Frankly speaking,
D70 and 20D is different level machine. 20D is semi-pro, same level as S3Pro / D100 / D7D. But D70 is level of 300D (although its function is much much better than 300D, so i use it.). So the price is sure cheaper for D70.
I feel Nikon is excellent in landscape (ultra wide angle lens), much sharp. And Canon is excellent in tele lens / portrait (soft).
But don't talk about Canon and Nikon. (Since many arguments will arise)

If you are using Nikon, go for D70, or S3Pro much better.
If you are using Canon, go for 20D.

About kit lens. Nikon 18-70 is not good, but much better than Canon plastic 18-55. (But also need to consider the price, more than double. So the lens is in different level)

Canon no Spot AE, since Canon only provide Spot AE in high level camera (as EOS 1D series). If you feel it is very important and you cannot live without it. No need to think, go for D70.

the D70 noise is quite high. (At least more than 300D/10D) and I find 10D using ISO800 is similar as 20D using ISO3200. So I believe noise of 20D is very low. (Which is attracting me now....)

Anyway, two cameras are also good. Just go for the one you like more.
But if you will consider 20D level, I believe you better wait for S3Pro first.

D70 or 20D對我來講easy 啦! 睇你用開咩咪揀咩law! 如果係新手的話,你咪比較下那個牌子的配件平的(例如你諗住買咩鏡頭啦) , 邊個平咪買邊個牌子law! 基本上將D70同20D比唔係好通,20D的規格全面強過D70 ,單是講像素經已有分別啦! 對嗎?

i used D70 before. my uncle need it now, so i decided 20D

here's some comment:

Nikon D70
better than 300D in same class
outlook better
read CF very vasy fast (should faster than 300D/10D)
long battery life


Canon 20D (still not try it before)
more friend use Canon (personal)
processing/read CF faster than 300D/10D (but not sure faster than D70 or not)
price is cheap (for 20D function and spec.)
although i like take 風景 shots, but i think i can set the camera to be sharper for image.
