I have been using 代用電 with my 300D for more than a year now. I also work for a battery company.

DC 代用電 is usually Li-on battery. Characteristics of Li-on battery is -

1) High capacity even for equipment like mobiler phone & DC
2) Small size
3) Unlike AA / AAA batteries, it can be designed in various shape

Disadvantage is -
1) It is possible to have explosion!

Since it is possible to have explosion, "Circuit Protection" is a MUST for Li-on battery. However, some manufactures didn't put the protection in because they want lower cost. Therefore, ONLY buy those trust-worthy brand Li-on battery.

First of all, I would suggest my company's brand - Uniross. However, Li-on battery is not that popular in HK yet. You can buy it mainly at the airport.

I have also tried Goki Li-on battery for DC. It seems very nice as well.

A brand called "Speedy" or something like "Speed" is getting a bit more popular in the market but the quality isn't that good. (I have tried one)

There are many brands out there and I didn't try everyone of them. Anyway, here are some general interesting facts to tell you before you buy 代用電.

1) Original brand is some time OEM from other facturies, so the quality is sometime very similar.
2) 代用電 usually have high capicity than the original model.
3) Don't go for those which are very cheap. They may not have circuit protection.
4) Go for those with decent package - sellers may re-pack those items which have problem. It is very common in Ni-Mh and Ni-cd business.
