Fx7 users come in please. O.I.S. Mode 1 or 2 better? Post time: 11 月 3 日 |

Hi Fx7 users,
According to the manual, mode 2 should be more powerful. However, I have owned fx7 for sometime and my experience is different. A lot of times, expecially in low light condition, using mode 1 very often has better results. I'd like to start a poll to see what other fx7 users' experience with O.I.S is.
Please indicate your finding, Mode 1 better or Mode 2?
Thanks,
Ray

I also find that mode 1 is better for me shooting at low light condition.

Correct me if I am wrong. I think in so-so low light condition (F stop between 1/60 and 1/8) Mode 2 is better than mode 1 most of the time because at these F stops, the only thing that will screw up the shot is if you acidentally jerk the camera (e.g. when you are using one hand, no flash, and press the shutter a little too hard). Because Mode 2 can have a more powerful compensation while the shutter is pressed. For small jitters, since the exposure time is not too long, so, it won't ruin the shoot.
However, if the exposure time is long (say, between 1/8 to 1/2 (well, 1s is certainly over the O.I.S limit, IMO), then you have to keep the lens moving to compensate the smaller jitters over the longer period of time. With a longer exposure time, mode 2 just doesn't work because it is a one time compensation (I guess). That means, if it decided to shift to left, it will just shift it to left only once. But if during that time, you hand shaked again back to the right (which might happen with long exposure, affected by your breathing, the way you stand, etc), mode 2 won't be able to compensate the handshake.
Cheers,
Ray
