Hi brothers and sisters

I want to buy a D70 body + ONLY one of the lens below:

- Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR Di LD ASL IF Macro
- Sigma AF 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC

I have already done a lot of researches on both lens. Seems that the Tamron one is recognized to have better quality (in terms of prizes) but the Sigma one has wider angle. From former discussions, there is no doubt that many Tamron's owners are satisfied with the lens. I would like to have more comments from the Sigma's owners.

If you were me, which one would you choose?

用D70買翻Sigma會好啲,冇wide angle點得架.

d70又好，300d又好。得sigma出左支大光圈18-50f2.8，d70 kit lens又冇咁大光圈，價錢差幾百。唔通買canon 17-40咩，咁貴！tarmon支鏡係好，用係slr就冇得頂，但dslr就唔夠wide。

I don’t have NIKON SLR. My knowledge on lens is not good enough! Can anyone tell me why I’d better choose Tamron if I have a SLR?

Does anyone have Sigma AF 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC here? I would like to have a wider angle lens definitely. Could you give me some comments on the lens?

I would like to buy the camera and lens next week. Any recommendations on other lens would be appreciated!!!

coz sigma can only use on a DSLR with chop factor!
but Tamorn can use on a SLR.

DSLR等效焦距係比菲林機長的.以D70計,要乘鏡頭實際焦距1.5.
Tarmon嗰支最廣角端變咗42 mm.Sigma嗰支就變咗27 mm.通常用廣角端會多過遠攝,所以Sigma焦段較實用.
至於菲林機就鏡頭焦距係咁多就咁多.變咗Tarmon都有28 mm廣角,夠用.Sigma嗰支係DSLR專用鏡,用在菲林機會有黑角.

Thanks Philippe. Guess you are an expert. Do you have any recommendations on other lens? I think I will give up the kit lens but would like to get another lens to familiarize the functions of D70 because I played Cannon SLR before.

想問一下, sigma 支鏡唔係用swm, 會唔會慢過原廠支kit鏡好多架?

If I am not wrong, both tests below on Sigma 18-50 2.8 were carried out by Canon DSLR. They are good reference but I really hope that there are some tests or reviews to show if this lens can match with D70 well.

請唔好叫我expert.其實Sigma支鏡我都未用過.我原本都想買佢,但係佢冇Minolta mount所以用唔到.
據我資料支鏡係冇swm,不過我又覺得冇乜所謂.我的鏡都冇swm,對焦速度絶對可以接受,反而大光圈作用大啲.

Why not get a Tamron 17-35 2.8 + EF50/1.8 the quality, range and compatibility is much better.

聽講都好sharp
不過不是恆定光圈(35 時有f4)
而且都要成$3600
比起之前兩支貴左dd...
