Looking at the spec of new Rebel or 350D, ppls no need to crack the firmware anymore. A Iittle bit sum up of new machine from the article, it got the following new features:

1. 8mps
2. Use Digic II
3. Use NB-2LH battery instead of 511 to make it 10% and 20% smaller than 300D. (That means it still a very plastic feel camera, but I like it though)
4. Able to choose One-shot, AI Servo AF and AI Focus AF
5. Able to shoot in monochrome (Black and White)
6. Flash Compensation
7. ETTL II and 2nd curtain flash
8. Mirror lock-up
9. Bundled with raw image workflow software

But it seems don't need to upgrade for it if u got a cracked 300D bor!!
The function added and the outlook is more competitive than 20D if the selling price is abt 7K
I will suggest people to buy XT rather than 20D and D70 lor!!!

我之前都預左係同20D一樣既800萬像Cmos,唔再用block function呢招,同20D較接近,或同300D一樣只得ISO1600冇3200(因其他同級都係咁上下),個殼預料同300D一樣咁膠,因Canon呢個品牌d人唔會因為佢膠而唔拺佢,反而有d人會錯覺覺得膠會機身較輕.

Size does matter.
25% smaller size is really a achievement.
But get rid of the proven 511/A/2/4 battery to use the small NB -2LH, wise?
(The vertical grip also has to be renewed to adopt the small battery)
To the extreme, why not get rid of CF to use SD?
I bought the Canon DV suppose to use the same battery!

如果係銀色 300D 去換,還可話換個 Look

如果係黑版加 Crack 左,又好似無物必要

倒不如再 upgrade 上 10D 或 20D
