廣角端全開光圈會有小小喑角，收到f/8成像都不錯，小弟之前買了支二手凈係for室內私映，所以不須開大光圈映，落300D就一鏡有齊廣角/中長距，仲有埋IS用落真係好易被縱壞！不過平日映就唔夠定焦快，所以少帶出街．如果未中L同定焦毒，呢支就夠用架喇！

The lens quality is good but don't expect L class image quality. The IS and range in DSLR is (27 - 136mm equivalent) very nice for travelling.

Price is high but still a good lens in all round.

好老實講, 支17~85 IS呢個質素唔值呢個價
人地都有支24~120ED VR 只係$3700, 雖然唔WIDE, 但FILM SIZE, SHARP.

EF-S 17-85 IS USM 是一支非常好用及實用之鏡頭，而且質素亦不錯，再加埋is功能機動性極高，本人應為此鏡十分好用，亦經常都會用到。我真係好唔明，此鏡根本不是一支L鏡又唔係定焦鏡，又何必梗要同L鏡及定焦鏡相比呢? 各有不同需要，而且L鏡(加腳架)十分重不常用，要嚟擺多過用。 而定焦鏡係正呀，但好可惜要買多幾支，先可做到17-85MM呢!!!

Why ppl always compare this lens to "L" lens? Why ppl always claims this lens not valuable?

If you said this lens not worth, how about 70-200 2.8L IS? To compare 70-200 2.8L IS and non-IS 70-200 2.8L, the price difference is nearly $3000. Why I can't hear ppl said 70-200 2.8L IS for $13300 is not worth ?
To know 17-85 IS 's price at ~$4300 is due to "IS" & good focal length and not mainly focus on the image quality. The function of this len is to focus on convenient rather than image quality. Moreover, I think 不不平人兄 also cannot identify a "L" lens or 17-85 IS lens which step down in a normal situitation (4R photos).

To be fair, 17-85 IS ($4300) can give u the followings:
1. IS (To increase the successful rate to take a clear photos) !!
2. IS (To take night photos in handhold, good in trip)!!!
3. 17-85 (Good focal length) !! No need to change lens frequently
4. smaller size and light in weight
5. Fast focus + quiet (Better than other bands)
6. Average in quality (17mm have light-off at corner but after step down or sufficient light, then disappear)!! Image quality not bad! Sure!!
7. Build quality good!
8. The cheapest "IS" lens in Canon series

However, 17-85 IS can't give u the followings:
1. Excellent image quality (Need to step down aperature a little bit)
2. Can't freeze moving object due to small aperature (Need to use large aperature lens like EF 50 1.8 or 1.4)
3. Can't use on film camera
4. Build quality can't have "L" lens quality (The lens would extend if change in focal length)

我覺得幾實用,如果唔係追求週圍影女追求大光圈既話一支鏡攪點晒. 係伸桶式設計同埋換鏡時較為易入塵麻煩些少(我個支都因為咁入左少少塵)

其實我都有L鏡, 但係大家又係未會經常用盡晒L鏡既威力黎影相或者冇L鏡不可,反而係買鏡前需要唸既, 鬼唔知L鏡靚咩...但係我都只係間唔中晒下8R...我都覺得幾內疚冇乜好好用支鏡....哈哈

支鏡焦距實用,IS好用 ,但問心就唔值$4200-4300咁貴囉,仲要for 1.6 x都有暗角, 28-135都係$3700, 呢支如果under $4000就ok

28-135 X 1.6 crop factor = 45-216mm 個range 唔係太實用, 28-135 枝鏡係第2代IS 只能減2級快門而17-85 IS 係新一代IS 能減3級快門, 我覺得多只係多$600係值得換取減多一級快門同更實用既range 27-136mm

我唔係 canon user, 未用過支鏡
不過比 nikon 支 kit 鏡 18-70
只不過多左 IS
光圈仲要細左半級
EF-S 17-85mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM
AF-S 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G DX IF-ED

但人地有 ED 鏡片, 影出黎又幾好, 仲要係賣 $2000
