You should think carefully before you decide to buy DSLR, if you really love photography, it is worth to buy DSLR, if you just want to take family, daily or travel photo, DC is enough. DSLR can bring you the quality photo, prompt AF and interchangeable lens, but DSLR can bring you the trouble of :
- CCD gets dust : the CCD easily get dust, you need to clean it two or three weeks once. Even you just clean the CCD a minute ago, the next minute the dust will get into CCD because you press the shutter, the reflective mirror lift up and may flip the dust into CCD even you did not change the lens. I always like an idiot to shoot the sky to check whether the CCD get dust, when CCD get die-hard dirt, take an hour to blow the CCD, shoot photo and check, and blow again…
- Optical view finder gets dust : it doesn't harm the photo quality, but you should not be surprised the view finder get dust inside as easy as the CCD.
- Bulky and heavy body : it will reduce your aspiration to bring the DSLR to the street in usual time.
- Expensive accessories : once you invested in DSLR, you will addict into the macro, lens, filter, flash….etc.
- Maintenance : of course you will worry that your DSLR and lens get mold, mildew, dust….etc. You may worry the humidity of vacuum box, worry the DSLR gets dewdrop when leaving the air-conditioned shopping mall to hot street…
If you are really interested in photography, you will think it is worth to do it and won't consider it is a painstaking job. If you are not, then stay with prosumer DC is not bad choice… I see many people here use DC and still shoot very good photo, better than my DSLR photo.
