You could try Canon Ixus series, or Nikon's compact DC.

It is the image processing logitherm!!
You could tune up the image sharpener 1 degree and it looks sharper than the Nikon's.

The focus accuracy of both is the same!!
The image for Canon 's is more Salon's feel and artistic and it has no moire effect as in Nikon's.

如果要wide都有防手震 -- 350D + 17-85 IS
如果要Sharp要硬賓賓, ISO1600勁多noise, 350D俾唔到你

Did you use any of the mentioned DSLR?
And much you can expect from a $680 kit lens? Go get some prime/L lens if you want REAL sharpness not PS/in camera alogrithm.

I totally agree.

If you can own a L len like 17-40(even my 70-200 IS I also feel it is sharp enough), u can find Canon can also sharp, and not like Nikon, Nikon's sharpness is slightly unnatural and the color is slightly artificial(my personal feeling only, don't argue). And the WB is also more accurate(of course u can manually adjust WB after every shoot, but if u find that the photos have inconsistence WB afterwards I think u will prefer a more accurate WB system)

However, if u don't want to buy any L lens, then go for Nikon. Nikon really not bad, especially the shutter speed. Happy shooting is most important.

我所指的"當傻瓜機用", 是指大部時間不需要調整, 就可拍攝好的照片, 間中可拍攝一些有效果的!
我用了幾年的F100比唔我想要的層次感, 同想換機試試$7000以下DSLR!
