I did not the same comparsion, I wanna buy s5Z at first but finally switched to V550.

the primary concern is S5Z gives a bit soft pics. esp. at the edges... u can try to take some photos in shop to see the effects... also the display quality is not good. much worse than other 2.5" LCD...

I heard it is cosed by the lens... those "slide-in" lens make the pictures blur at edges...

and V550 gives extremely nice display quality, cheap hong goods, a lot of assessories including cradle, etc. nice pics quality with high color saturation which I really like.

but S5Z is really so compact!!! and has mpeg4 movies and after all - it is cheap!!! and the camera itself looks great to me!

so u can decide yourself, it is merely my choice~

btw, where selling V550 at 2280 now? really good buy!

I buy pentax S5z finally, cos

- it could take 45 min video using 1G SD card vs 30 min for kodak, though both of them use Mpeg4
- its cheaper, $1840 water goods compare with $2280 hong goods,
if no problem in first year, the warranty becomes the same
