i don't mean the power save.
There is a switch, over the BG-E3, if it is On, the buttons on it will work.

My question is, if i don't switch that switch off ( the switch of the BG-E3), will it use any of the power of the battery?

As long as you have set your camera's auto power off time, you can just leave the switch at the ON position.

I have always left this switch at the ON position for years and there had never been any problem, including overheating or excessive power drain.

No, leave it on all the time unless you don't want the buttons on the battery grip to be pressed accidentally.

It's simply used to enable/disable the BG buttons.
