Re: DIY AA battery case and video light Post time: 11 月 14 日 |

that is nice idea, but it wouldnt last long with AA (even through if you are thinking the high mAh one, eg 2600mAh). I had a portable halogen lamp (6V, using 4 AA). It 'dried' out my (2300mAh, AA) within 30mins.
may be you should consider sub-C batteries (the one for R/C car, now they are up to 3800mAh +).
however if you still wish to use AA, I suggest you find a unwanted or old Flash, take all the stuff out and use the case to fit all your electric stuff. It will keep thing neat and compact to travel.
also may be you can consider to use Li-ium battery (same power, less weight) than the Ni-MH. However it is an expensive option.

neongtr:
What is the power of your halogen light?
The voltage of general AA rechargable battery is 1.2V. Therefore, the voltage of 4 pieces battery shall be 4.8V.
You said you used 4 pieces 2300mAh battery (4.8V) for 6V halogen light. The lux shall be far away from the rated lux.
By simple calculation for my video light:
The rated current of 6V 15W is 2.5A.
Therefore, the 2500mAh can be last for 1 hour (2.5Ah / 2.5A = 1h)
And for two groups of 2.5Ah batteries which means I have 2 hours light for use.
Anyway, thanks for you advise.

oopss come to think of it, it uses 6x AA instead of 4xAA.
it is the same bulb as yours.
By calculation, yes, it should last 1h, but the quality of the batteries and the heat on the batteies (during the discharge) could reduce the preformence of the light.
your project is an interesting one, let me know your progress.
have you thought of using LED instead?
cheers

I finished the project. The video light is acceptable.
Now, I can use the auto focus at very dark environmental and the night movie is good as well.
I'd tried to use LED but the light is not bright enough.
I've also think of using the energy saving / fluorescent lamp since the light is brighter and low power consumption.
