Rumours are the new 20D is on its way, therefore no point to buy a 20D now and regret when the new one is out so soon.
5D is excellent if you have the budget.
BTW, what are you using now? Maybe its worth the wait.

i will recommand u to buy a good lens first.
let's say u buy 70-200mm IS L2.8 (around HKD12000) and let your 女友 use together, i think this lens will good for your 女友's 350D to use .
In this time u will not worry "no new model" .......... and u will think even the new model not to come soon.
in DSLR , lens is more important than a body.

or u can buy a small burget lens(around HKD 6000) and save a part of money of the new coming model . it is also a good plan for u.

why don't you consider a used 20D? or used 300D is good too. i think it is not worth at all to get a NEW 20D now as the new model is coming few months later i guess.

Lenses and bodies are both IMPORTANT in DSLR.

In my own case,
i want to buy a 2nd hand 20D also, it can be find at around HKD9000. and it is good PQ for use. But .......... if three month later 30D born, i think i will consider to sold it at HKD7000 - 8000, and buy 30D.
that's why i giveup 2nd hand 20D and wait for the coming new model.

Which means... if I buy a 20D "even new or old".. there will be a successor of 20D after 3 to 4 months... at that time.. I need to use another $10K to get a new camera by "sell and buy"..
Maybe I will go for.. 20D first... :)

and I also planning to buy a Lens, Lens is also very important....
so.. thinking of....

1. EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
2. EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS USM

Really hard to consider.. since.. such a expensive lens.. really need to think about it seriously..
Any good suggestions?

siupakwing, lenses choosing depends very much on your personal shooting style. somebody's "good" lenses may not apply to you!
