These are all good improvements.

To me the most exciting annoucement is this SD700 rather than the 30D, 17-55 2.8 and the rest.

I personally haven't use all of thoes stated lens above, but I think there is no shuch thing "Best" len. I think each len has its own characteristic. If you find one len that suit you more, then that will be the best len for you, but not necessary to others. That's one of the interesting part in photographicing. So to me, same theory apply to choosing DC. There's no "Best" DC. As long as you can find one that suit / meet your own request the best, then that will be the best DC for you, but not necessary to others. So these kind of question don't have any unique answer. That's fun. ^_^
