Ricoh: I like its optical zoom 7X but the LCD quality is poor

Canon: the LCD is very nice but only got 3X zoom, is it battery long lasting?

Depends what you need.

Yes, Ricoh R3's LCD is not as nice as Canon one, but I don't think that's too important because I don't think you'll use that to see your photo but not downloading them to your computer. To me, LCD is just use as a viewfinder, not really for watching photos, no enjoyment at all anyway, so no worries.

Ricoh R3 got the following that Canon don't have
- 28mm wide
- anti shake system
- 1cm macro
- 7.1x zoom

Canon
- nicer photo quality when compare to R3
- higher megapixel
- better movie quality

Personally I'll go for R3

For your information, R4 is coming and will be in the market next month. Spec is about the same as R3, but LCD is better in R4 and higher megapixel, and hope that the image quality will improve (but pursonally I think it will be just the same as in R3). By that time, R3 maybe even cheaper.

pokwai, I agree that Ricoh's photo quality is not as good as Canon, but is it 差劣 that worse? or is it still acceptable?

I mainly use the camera to take picture (artisit/movie star) from some outdoor function. what do you think the quality of Ricoh as I really like its 7X zoom.

Yes, like what I said here in this topic and others, R3's image quality may not be as good as some other brand, but is it that bad? Take a look on the follow link with photos taken by R3. Personally I don't think thoes photos in that link are rubbish.

Totally agree with 'wonge' and 'balance01', too many people even haven't do some research and just follow what others saying. Maybe 'pokwai2005' not one of them, but to be honest, I really don't see any "事實當前".

I know R3 well is because I'm planning to buy this camera, just waiting on R4 and FX01 to compare. I did lots of research on this camera and I'll say, it's for sure not the best camera, but for money to value/features, it's the best to me.

If chose only between R3 and IXUS 750

R3 has a better tele zoom lens (7x) then 750 (3x) zoom.

If there is no any other choices, go for R3!

Or check out other models with tele zoom lens + anti shaking system!
Panasonic FZ 5, Canon S2 IS are good!!
