The wide (17-24mm) of "Canon EF-S 17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM" is as poor as "wide" of Sigma 18-200, BOTH are SOFT & full of CA, the centre part of EF-S 17-85 is better

The "wide" of kit 18-55 is NOT good BUT DEFFINITELY BETTER than the "wide" of 17-85 of Sigma "18-200"

CANON fans don't be irritated, I have all these three lens, I am also a DIE HARD fan of CANON

If u can accept the quality of Sigma 18-200 as shown in my gallery, go buy one, for as "TRIP LENS"

Sigma 18-200 $2480 hong, if shooting at infinity, the focal length is about 18-180 mm, a little bit shorter than Tarmon (I have not used this Tarmon before)

In terms of image quality, if the 18-55 worth $600, the 17-85 only worth $1200 (at most), but since this 17-85 has IS, the $2xxx is for the IS....
