日本 Sharp 今日 (11/8) 發表了供消費級相機使用的新款 1/1.7吋 CCD 感光元件，記錄像素達 1200萬之譜 (12MP)，將為消費機市場再啟像素大戰。這款 CCD 像素單元尺寸僅 1.88μm，也是目前業界密度最高的感光元件。 Sharp 預計在 11/30 開始提供樣品，並將於 2007年一月份正式量產。不過 Sharp 感光元件以往給消費者的印象是雜訊略高，此款高密度的新型 CCD 表現如何則有待新相機採用後測試瞭解。

此系列 12MP CCD 將有兩種不同款式出貨，分別是 RJ21Y3DA0ET 以及 RJ21Y3BA0ET，差別在於前者提供了四倍感光度功能，這是將四個像素合一以擴大感光度的技術，因此記錄像素此時將只有 3MP。而封裝形式也不同，前者為 SOP 36-pin，後者則為 32-pin。詳細規格如下:

A no. of C A N O N small DC (NOT DSLR) really use Sony CCD long time ago, e.g. IXUS 700 & 750, but I don't know whether they still use the Sony CCD on small DC such as IXUS 900 or G7
