本人買左一部Pentax 330數碼相機, 每次傳入電腦後都要再另存新檔來縮細相片, 還要逐張逐張地縮小它, 浪費了我很多的時間, 請問各位有什麼方法可以省時呢?

maybe if you hv a bit of misconception about graphics files(maybe I have. tell me if I have).

Most graphic files can't be compressed "壓縮", like BMP,tiff,gif. They are not program files or text files that can be zipped by winzip type stuffs.
The only one that I know is jpg, but it can only be compressed with loss of quality. I wonder if anyone wd do compression when transfering them to their computers, as hard disc space is so cheap.

missed that. .... doing thumbnails is another thing. that software by ftslee can do and i am sure that s not what you are looking for. I ll check photoshop to see if it can save batch photos to a lower quality in a batch basis. ...come back

In photoshop, it s File -> Automate -> Batch. I am sure in ACDsee and Photoimpact, GIMP, etc, they got similar things. Just go help and search for "Batch topics", surely will find it. Enjoy

thank you for your explanation... a few points of adjustment:
1. irfanview *can* do compression and downsizing, in a batch. you can select JPEG file type in the BATCH window and choose the compression level (quality factor) of each JPEG output. resize to a smaller picture in terms of dimension (like thumbnail) is also ok if you click on the "advanced options" button.

2. JPEG employs lossy compression, while file formats like GIF, newer BMP (RLE), TIFF can also use compression. GIF uses something like that in RLE (Run-length-encoded) as in Windows RLE format. TIFF is very versatile, it can use compression with LZW-similar algorithm, it can also be uncompressed.

I suppose lossy compression means after you compress, you can't recompress back to original level....
