I just buy 24-105 today at Tin Cheng, out of stock in other shops at Mongkok. Price $7650 by EPS.

BTW, I heard the boss at SSP accessory shop told me (because he saw me take the 24-105 to his shop to buy accessories) that the new coming one will be more expensive as the current one was produced with glass with lead content and which is not comply with EC environmental requirements so this batch of len can't enter to Europe market, and the new len will use glass without lead and cost will be increased.
(Don't know true or not but if you want to buy one need to hurry it is running out of stock)

It is one stop bigger apeture vs. longer range and IS, this is the choice of you, because I already have 17-40, and 70-200 4.0 IS so adding this one make my set complete.

Not difficult to chose as the different between 2.8 and 4.0 is not very big for exposure because you have the IS to compensate but for fast action 2.8 will have adventage. However, Canon's noise level at high ISO is controlled so well that you can use higher ISO if needed.

The longer range and IS give the 24-105 more practical to be daily use.

Image quality also not much differents

yeah i vote for the 24-105 as it's cheaper now.

2.8 is useful and can add alot in your creative process. i think making one of the three a 2.8 is a wise choice. maybe the 16-35 range use 2.8 loh, hehe. =p

sometimes i think even 24-105 + tamron 28+70 2.8 is cheaper than the 24-70 f.28. it's too heavy to carry it around anyways. 9xx gram

but the 24~105 f4L is
is better at is system and normally
f2.8 are not all the time need
if portait than f2.8

but f4 for portrait is sharp enough
also the 24~70 f2.8 many of my friend say sharp as f4

so see the price and the is system
i think you better buy the 24~105 f4 first

after you think not enough than exchange 24~70

both L lens very very high contract and extreme good picture
but one thing both support the ettl-2 so better have a 430ex or 580ex
the picture you take will more good

For pure sharpness go for cheap prime lenses.
